2023 A Year In Review

January 1, 2024

Happy New Year!

Reflecting on a year of growth for Glen Rose Medical Center in terms of service expansion and technology updates.

In early 2023 we began the process of implementing a Hospitalist Program. With a hospitalist on staff, we will be able to provide a higher level of care to patients that might have previously been transferred to the metroplex, a hospitalist will work with your primary care provider to ensure you have the same personal experience that makes being a patient at GRMC special. We were happy to announce Dr. Julia Hutchinson back to Glen Rose and welcomed Dr. Paul Borgfeld to Glen Rose and Glen Rose Medical Center.

Along with the new Hospitalist Program, we really ramped up our “Swing Bed” program. Swing Bed is a Medicare program that allows patients to receive skilled care services at Glen Rose Medical Center once hospital care is no longer required, but the patient continues to need services that cannot be easily provided in the patient’s home. The program is designed to assist patients in reaching their highest potential for health and independence prior to returning to their home.

We are committed to adding physicians to our team, we happily announced the addition of Dr. William Moore. Dr. William Moore is Board-Certified in Pain Medicine and practices Interventional Pain Management. His main focus is on treatment of the spine. In his practice, he utilizes a wide range of minimally invasive techniques to treat neck pain, back pain and chronic joint pain. New developments allow minimally invasive access to specific nerves, joints and discs with no incisions or very small incisions and a short recovery time providing a dramatic change in patients’ well-being.

Glen Rose Medical Center welcomed Dr. Kraig Pepper, board-certified, fellowship trained orthopedic expert who specializes in sports-injury rehabilitation and advanced arthroscopic surgery dedicated to proving the highest standard of care to every patient that walks through the door. Dr. Pepper sees patients in the Specialty Clinic at Glen Rose Medical Center and performs surgery on campus as well.

Glen Rose Medical Center added two state of the art updates to our Radiology Department, we were pleased to offer the latest technology available with the new GE Pristina 3D Mammography machine.  A 3D mammogram can detect up to 40 percent more cancers than a 2D mammography machine, in addition to the 3D mammography machine upgrade we also added a 64-Slice CT imaging scanner allows for the convenient and non – invasive diagnosis and screening of coronary disease (heart blockages).

Glen Rose Medical Center has honored to receive the Hillcrest Foundation Grant, with the generosity of the Hillcrest Foundation we were able to upgrade our beds in the Med/Surg department and Emergency Room giving our patients a better experience during their hospital stay.

The team at Glen Rose Medical Center is continually striving to add programs and upgrade medical equipment to better care for our patients and serve Somervell and the surrounding communities keeping you closer to family and those that care about you. We are looking forward to 2024 and invite you to come and grow with us.

We wish everyone a happy and healthy 2024.
