Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update | March 17, 2020
Coronavirus UPDATE:
As of Monday afternoon, there have been no presumptive or positive Coronavirus COVID-19 cases in Somervell or the surrounding counties, however Glen Rose Medical Center is taking precautionary measures to protect patients, staff and the residents of Somervell County.
Glen Rose Medical Center is implementing a number of steps to try and control patient, staff and public exposure to the virus using guideline and advice from the Centers for Disease Control, and Texas Department of Public Health.
Please use the Emergency Room for emergencies. If you are experiencing symptoms of the Coronavirus COVID-19, please call your primary healthcare provider or hospital. They will ask you a series of prescreen questions as to provide the best possible care plan for you. Limiting potential exposure is the best way to slow the progression of the virus.
We are asking that social visits to patients in the hospital be limited to one family member, unless there are extenuating circumstances, such as end of life.
Beginning at 5:00 today, Monday March 16, 2020 the main entrance hospital doors will be locked. Visiting hours will be 8:00 – 5:00 until further notice.
All exterior doors to Glen Rose Medical Center will no longer be accessible to the public, all WELL patients will be required to enter through the main front door of the hospital lobby.
Beginning Wednesday March 18, 2020, you will be screened for fever and asked a quick series of questions as well as a bit of personal information. This information is for hospital use only and will be used for notification if there is an exposure to the virus.
If you are SICK or injured please enter through the ER, if you are experiencing potential Coronavirus COVID -19 symptoms, please call ahead to limit potential exposure to staff, patients and family members waiting in the ER waiting area.
All physician clinic doors will remain open at this time. Again, we do ask if you are experiencing Coronavirus COVID-19 symptoms please call ahead, this is precautionary to protect patients in the waiting areas.
In an effort to protect patients being seen in the physician clinic Glen Rose Healthcare/Glen Rose Medical Center has established a designated area for patients to be screened for Coronavirus COVID-19. If you are feeling symptoms or have had a known exposure, please call the physician clinic for a phone assessment. At that time an appointment will be scheduled and you will be directed to the location of the clinic. Please do not “walk in” the clinic to schedule an appointment. We want to ensure that you are protected as well as general patients and staff.
We are using extreme caution, again there are no confirmed or presumptive cases in the area.
We ask for your support and patience as we all work together to stop the spread of the virus. Our team has been putting plans and processes in place for an effective response. We will continue to adapt to the ever-changing process and will continue to work together for the safety of our patients and community.
